Guidelines For Customers
Autos, Boats, RV’s and Personal Effects:
These guidelines are designed mainly for customers shipping their own cars, motor homes, motorcycles and yachts. This document provides some basic information needed to facilitate a worry free transaction.
ALL CHARGES must be prepaid prior to any vehicle being delivered to shipping lines or Ro / Ro terminal.
Exact Measurements (length x width x height)
- The exact dimensions are required to ensure that the vehicle can be stowed properly to avoid damage and to calculate accurate freight charges. In case of discrepancies we will notify shipper.
Keys;
- All vehicles are driven onto either a Ro / Ro vessel or into a shipping container and therefore all keys must be left in the vehicle or handed over to the terminal operator or (as per custom of the port).
License Plates;
- Remove license plates and carry them with you in your baggage. They may be “Souvenir” items in foreign ports. Replacing them when you pick up your car is both costly and inconvenient.
-
- U. S. Customs Procedures: Drop Off
-
- We highly recommend that you let Bruning International Corporation handle the customs issues on your behalf!
Please be advised that if you plan on delivering your own vehicle & hand carrying your own title you must allow at least 3 business days for local U.S. Customs office to process & stamp the original title for export clearance.
-
- Special Note: BE ADVISED THAT CUSTOMS CAN BE VERY UNPREDICTABLE & IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THEM TO BE DELAYED IN GETTING ORIGINAL TITLE PROCESSED
RESULTING IN POSSIBLE MISSED SALING OF ORIGINAL BOOKING VESSEL. IN THE EVENT THAT THIS HAPPENS YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE DISPATCHED ON THE VERY NEXT VESSEL.
Required Export Documentation (All Vehicles)
- 6 Dock Receipts (Bruning International Corporation will process these for you)
1 Original Title
3 Copies of original title (Front & Back sides)
Fuel;
- Please deliver your vehicle with no more than one-quarter (1⁄4) tank of gas to comply with applicable safety regulations. You will need enough gas to deliver, load / discharge your car and reach a gas station at destination.
Motor Homes;
- • Propane tanks containing propane cannot be accepted. The tanks must be fixed on the unit itself and certified as empty. If the tanks are of a removable type the tanks must be removed prior to delivery to the port.
- • Motor homes that need electrical power during the ocean voyage will not be accepted
- • Please note your motor home will be inspected and should not contain items that could be construed as being dangerous or a security liability during the loading, discharge or ocean transportation.
-
- • Prohibited items are, but not limited to:
-
-
- • Crates & Boxes
• Flammable liquids
• Motorcycles / Scooters
• Perishable Goods
• Corrosive / explosive liquids or materials
Personal Effects;
MUST BE IN A CONTAINER MODE OF SHIPMENT
- • Should any customers choose to ship any vehicles using Ro / Ro ocean transportation the following policy will apply;
-
- • No personal effects are allowed in the vehicle or in the trunk. Only equipment defined as standard equipment of the vehicle when delivered from the manufacturer to the dealer like e.g. vehicle toolbox, spare tire, manuals, etc. will be allowed. Please note this is a security requirement as a result of the tightening of global security measures effective July 1st 2004. Vehicles with personal effects will not be accepted for shipment.
